As you know, we are huge fans of Body Conceptions by Mahri and we have teamed up with them once again on their latest Fit For Fall Challenge. This week, Dana Campbell, a professional coach, yoga instructor and organizational change leader, shared motivational thoughts with the BoCo community that were so fabulous we couldn’t help but share. We hope you enjoy!
“Maximizing your benefits from the challenge comes as much from what you do in class as what you do out if class. Equally as important as showing up to class is how you show up in your life. Any time I undergo a stressful challenge I double down on creating more space in the rest of my life. Here are a few things I find really important:
REST! I know this is counterintuitive but it’s so important for both building strength and losing weight. This can include 10 minutes of lying on your floor, your bed or in a hot bath. Especially during fall it’s really easy for us to become depleted- so to balance all your hard work at BoCo you want to rest outside.
Speaking of hot baths– Epsom salt baths are unbelievable for sore muscles! Add a few drops of an essential oil like lavender and it’s like a mini spa night.
I’m a huge fan of massages. This might be a great time to invest in a rub down and help you release a bit of tension.
(Tip from basq NYC- Try using Resilient Body Oil for massage. Natural, beautiful and great for your skin).
Reflection. You undoubtedly are experiencing something as a result of the challenge. This is a great time to get quiet with yourself and listen. You can meditate, journal or just eat without looking at your phone. Taking a few minutes each day to just observe is going to help you realize how much you are overcoming!
… and of course a little bit of stretching never hurt anything!”
